International Day at Modul University Vienna

International Day is an initiative that was launched in 2010 to show that diversity is an integral part of Modul University Vienna's core values.

Objectives

International Day is an initiative that was launched in 2010 to show that diversity is an integral part of Modul University Vienna's core values. The target groups are students, faculty members and staff of the university.

Background

This event is designed to celebrate our university's rich intercultural environment and the diverse culinary traditions of our students.

(Implemented) Activities

International Day is an initiative that started in 2010 in order to demonstrate that diversity is a fundamental part of Modul University Vienna’s core values. International Day is a day of unity, cultural appreciation, and a delightful culinary journey that brings together students from around the world. The event aims to not only promote cultural diversity but also raise funds for charity while fostering connections among our student community. Faculty members also participate directly by representing their countries, encouraging students to participate and contributing to the event itself.

Results

Internationalization@home reports that Modul University assists its members in acquiring international exposure within their home university and cultivating intercultural competences. The International Day serves as a compelling illustration of a vibrant welcoming culture extended to staff, students, faculty members, and international guests. Past editions of the International Day enabled our members to deepen their understanding of multiculturalism by experiencing traditional clothes, handcrafts, music instruments, pictures, videos, and traditional food.

Lessons learned

Modul University Vienna aims to educate its members about the differences and similarities of our cultural backgrounds by exchanging experiences with each other in an authentic way.
